WIM Lisa Yao

WIM Lan Yao (Lisa)

Lan Yao (Lisa) is a talented chess player and FIDE Chess trainer that quickly achieved the title of WIM at an early age. Her current chess ELO is 2297 and counting, with a peak of 2343.

She is a young and active tournament player with excellent results including a 1st place at the BSSZ Aranytiz International Master, 1st place at the Chinese Youth Chess Championship U-16, and part of the top 10 contenders in two World Chess Championships for girls U-16 and 18. Besides her great skills to play the royal game, she is also a passionate trainer and chess tournament organizer who has also served as the president of the Chengheng Chess Association (China) and had a leading role in the UCL Chess Society. Lisa is also an avid reader that enjoys investigating and writing about chess history, with regular publications in different social media platforms. She is currently doing a master’s degree in London, UK. Of course, Lisa is also an honorary member of CIS.

FM Peter Kokol

After active playing (1998 – 2012), Peter started giving lectures as a chess trainer. He had the privilege to work with GM Adrian Mikhalchishin, FIDE Trainer’s Chairman, author of many chess books, and a man who helped Anatoly Karpov between 1979-1986 to become a World Champion.

In the year 2012, while teaching chess in Ljubljana, Peter has obtained a national trainer’s title of a Chess Mentor and in the year 2015 an international title of FIDE Instructor. After that he moved back to Maribor where he worked as a chess teacher in several elementary schools, being a private trainer for best students and as a leading chess coach in chess club ZSK Maribor part of which he remained from his early ages. In October 2017 he moved to Shanghai, China started to work as a chess Coach for Small World Chess Club. Since April 2019 Peter works under Black Knight chess consulting company providing individual, group and online chess training. Apart from that, he is also our proud CIS organizing committee team member.

Peter and Lisa collaborate together in our brother WeChat group called “Mustachess” which includes excellent and memorable chess-related anecdotes, history and a nice virtual space to talk about Chess in general.
